Abstract, Event Details: 

"Eigenstate thermalization hypothesis" (ETH) relates properties of a single many-body eigenstate to a statistical ensemble. In this talk, I will discuss the evidence for a strong version of ETH which allows one to reconstruct many-body Hamiltonians using a single finite-energy density eigenstate. I will also discuss which operators in a closed system do not thermalize and possible experimental relevance of such operators. Finally, I will discuss the form of many-body eigenstates in a certain limit which recovers ETH, and also leads to analytical results on the finite-size scaling of bipartite Renyi entropies corresponding to these eigenstates.
