Abstract, Event Details: 

Atoms coupled to nanophotonic systems represent an exciting frontier for the investigation of quantum light-matter interactions. While most work considers the interaction between statically positioned atoms and light, in nanophotonic systems one can achieve strong interplay between atomic internal states, optical scattering, and forces. We show how this interplay can give rise to classical and quantum self-organization of atoms.
